Tanya Dann - Artist profile

I work with a variety of different media and disciplines. In particular Painting, Drawing, Textiles, Photography and Digital Art; as well as dabbling in Ceramics, Jewellery, Printmaking and Sculpture.

I specialises in:
Bright, bold, acrylic abstracts.
Photographic prints inspired by nature.
Graphite portraits of people and animals.

For the past 5 years I have called Stewart Island, New Zealand home. I have a varied background in art, clothing and textiles, horticulture, hospitality and zoology. In 2007 I completed a Certificate in Creative Studies, then attended Art School in Dunedin in 2008 before returning to my scientific roots in 2009. I now hold two Masters Degrees in Forensic Textiles and Entomology, both from Otago University. My current body of artworks are shaped by my love of nature and the colours of the environment around me.

In November 2020, I opened a gift shop and art gallery on Stewart Island called Aurora Arts and gifts. All my available work is available in store or online.
